Let's peel back the veil and look at the mindset stuff, the misalignment, the avoidance that's keeping you stuck in financial fog – and how to get through it to financial flow.

The Comfy Story That's Holding You Back

First, let's unpack this identity trap. It's probably a bit of a comfy blanket for you, especially in the world of creative, spiritually anchored people. Alternative, right-brained, artist, passion-driven people. The people we love. The person you probably are.

I can't tell you how many clients came to me when I was a tax preparer for almost a decade in this particular niche of epic people who had this exact story.

That story basically becomes like a shield. Or like a concrete ceiling you're crouched under, keeping you from making the money you need, scaling to the lifestyle you want, still being able to travel and have fun.

It's Not About Being a Math Whiz

Everything about that is so beyond numbers. But it's the numbers that make it possible.

And you don't have to be a math whiz. You don't have to be an accountant. You just need to be willing to look, and to look regularly.

It really is all about your attention, your presence, the rhythmic, regular way you show up for this that yields the result. Not your ability to actually crunch the numbers, which by the way is so super easy once you lean in.

You'll find, like so many of my clients who come to me in avoidance and make it through to the other side of establishing a ritual that feels really good to show up for, that your avoidance is so much heavier than your attention once you're willing to be in relationship with the numbers.

The Fun Part Nobody Warns You About

Once you've moved through your resistance and start looking at and engaging these numbers, it's actually really fun. It aligns your magical manifestation side with your numbers.

You're just tagging actual amounts that make it possible to be strategic and make the decisions you need to, so your income and expenses can meet and match.

That's the numbers side, and it's absolutely just plugging in the other half of the equation – that deep, magical, desire-filled feeling side of what you're co-creating, calling in, and moving toward. That's the fun part.

The Real Reason Avoidance Costs You

What I found to be the block for people, the reason they're "just not a numbers person," is the record keeping.

And the reason it can cost you so much money to avoid it? Well, there are lots of reasons.

If you're not keeping track, you're probably not putting money aside for taxes. So you're going to get stuck with a huge bill come tax time that you probably can't afford. You might have to set up a payment plan, add penalties and interest. None of that's fun.

You're probably also missing deductions and write-offs that could be reducing how much you owe. So you're shelling out more in taxes than you need to.

And for the things you are writing off, if you ever get audited – and I don't mean to be a fear monger – but if you don't have those records ready and available in your back pocket, the IRS might end up disallowing those write-offs. Then you're stuck with a bill you weren't expecting, paying back savings you thought you got to keep.

Avoidance Is Stress. Attention Is Protection.

This is the less fun one to talk about. But I want to offer the reminder that not being a "numbers person" and avoiding this stuff could mean serious financial discomfort.

The alternative can be so peaceful and simple. So unlike all the stress that avoiding it causes you. It's truly just a form of protection.
